Core value of the month: Respect

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Monta Loma Families,

Please take some time to consider the following reminders from the front office.

If your student is tardy…

Please come with your child to report your late arrival at the front office if you have arrived after 8:35am to get a tardy slip. Students should arrive no later than 8:30am.

All tardies are considered unexcused with the exception of doctor/dental appointments accompanied with a note from the doctor/dentist.

Reporting an absence

All student absences must be reported to the school. You may send an email message to mlabsence@mvwsd.org or call the student absences line at 650-903-6915 ext. 3880. Please include in your message student’s first and last name, room number, and reason for absence. You must call the absence line by 8:45am to avoid receiving an auto dialer message requesting you to contact the school to verify your child’s absence.

When students miss too much school— regardless of the reason – it can cause them to fall behind academically.  Your child is less likely to succeed if he or she is chronically absent. Children chronically absent in kindergarten and 1st grade are much less likely to read at grade level by the end of 3rd grade. By 6th grade, chronic absence is a proven early warning sign for students at risk for dropping out of school.  For more information, click here.

In partnership,

Gloria

The PTA is collecting your gently used books for our annual Used Book Sale. Donations of children's books can be left in the office between now and February 26. Please no adult, religious, or adult books. We need volunteers to sort books between 2/12 and 2/26, and help students select their books between 2/27 and 3/1---sign up here

Our annual Walk-a-thon is coming up on April 5.  This is a huge fundraiser for Monta Loma and the PTA really need parents to help.  We are looking for volunteers to help solicit businesses for raffle items, which can be done at home.  We would also gladly take any donations for raffle items too.
