Core value of the month: Compassion

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Monta Loma Families,

Spring is in the air and it’s time for some gentle reminders about rules on campus. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and healthy.

Pick up and Drop off:

Thank you for driving carefully on campus and for helping keep our students safe by following these guidelines.

  • Only the loop closest to the office may be used for drop off and pick up. The loop closest to the street is only used if you are parking.
  • Please honor handicap spaces and reserve them for those with placards.
  • Please make sure your student knows how you would like them to get home, especially if it is different than usual. If your plans change unexpectedly, let the office know as soon as possible through email or a directly conversation. Phone messages may not be received in time.
  • Please be on time to pick your students up. They worry when you are late and we do not offer supervision after school unless students are enrolled in a program.

Morning Supervision:

We have been able to increase supervision in the morning starting at 7:30 in the multiuse room. Breakfast service starts at 7:50am.

  • Students should not be on campus before then without a parent or guardian.
  • Students should report directly to the multiuse room if it is before 8:15 am or the blacktop if it is after8:15am. They should not be in the hallways before school without a parent or guardian.

Non-school/Personal Items at School:

Students should not bring items other than school materials on campus without the consent of the classroom teacher. The school is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal materials. Cell phones are not needed by students at school. If students have them, they must be turned off and stored in backpacks.

Snacks and Lunches

Students work hard at school. They need healthy snacks and lunches to fuel their brains for the day. Please do not send students with candy or sodas. Students may get breakfast before school or brunch at recess (not both) and lunch in the cafeteria. Free or reduced pricing for food is available for eligible families.

To protect students with allergies, we do not allow students to share food.

In partnership,

Gloria

NEWS FROM THE DISTRICT OFFICE

All public schools receiving state funding are required to prepare and distribute a SARC (School Accountability Report Card). The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each school. SARCs are published each year and contain data from the previous school year.

There are several ways to view your school’s SARC:

  • Visit the MVWSD elementary schools’ and middle schools’ webpages on www.mvwsd.org and click on your school’s SARC links, for both English and Spanish.
  • Go to the CDE Find a SARC Web page. This CDE Web page provides actual SARC reports or SARC Web links to the school or district website where the school's SARC is located.
  • If you would like to obtain a printed copy in Spanish or English, please see your child’s school.

ThoughtExchange opens on March 19: School safety

Over the past weeks, we have heard from parents, staff and community members who are concerned about our community’s ability to keep our children safe. MVWSD will facilitate a conversation about school safety and mental health, as well as the role our civic/community partners play in ensuring that every member of our community is safe.

Look for a link in your email on March 19 to join the online community conversation (ThoughtExchange) or visit www.mvwsd.org/safety for more information and to participate. Please share your input on what are the most important considerations as we continue planning for school safety.

The thoughts you share in this exchange will inform planning for an April 18 School Safety Town Hall, hosted in conjunction with our partners, such as Mountain View Police Department, El Camino Hospital, El Camino YMCA, CHAC and more.  We are hoping that this process will lead to a renewed commitment, solutions or new action items for all partnering organizations for keeping our children safe.

NEWS FROM THE COMMUNITY

A message from Crittenden PTA

Dear rising 6th graders and families,

We are excited to have you join us at Crittenden in just a few months. To give you a taste of our middle school, we would like to welcome you to Panther Prowl, our annual Walkathon & Silent Auction, on Friday, March 23rd from 2:15 pm to 5 pm at Crittenden Middle School. In addition to many exciting activities and delicious food, we will be inaugurating the new track. The ribbon cutting ceremony of the new track will take place at 2:10 pm, followed by all the activities. Be sure to bring the entire family and help us with our fundraiser while enjoying delicious food, fun activities, and our amazing community!

MVEF needs your feedback! Please consider taking the survey below to share with MVEF your thoughts on the programs they fund, and how they communicate with you. The survey should not take more than a few minutes to complete and all results are compiled anonymously. MVEF will use the results to improve their communication with the community and ensure their funding has a high impact on education in our district. Thank you! Please complete the survey by March 24th.
