Core value of the month: Courage

Dear Monta Loma Families,

New Website

Monta Loma is pleased to announce its new website. Please visit to see a preview of the new site. In time, it will replace our current website at its permanent address. The new site's graphics and colors align with the District's new visual identity and logo, as well as feature the school's new leopard logo. The navigation is based on best practices and analytics. There is improved functionality and accessibility. Thanks for your patience as we transition to the new website. If you have any comments about the site, please email them to

State Testing

Our window for assessments this year is between April 16th and May 18th.

Students in 3rd through 5th grade will be assessed in English Language Arts and Math. Students in 5th grade will also take a Science assessment.

Monta Loma is ready to show what we know! Our school goal is to increase our average scale score in Math and ELA by 25 points points or more.

Parents often ask what they can do to help students do their best on assessments. And if you think about it, these practices are important for students every day, not just for assessments.

  • Make sure that your student attends school regularly. The more students are in school, the more likely they will do well on assessments.
  • Make sure your child gets enough sleep. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends 9 to 12 hours of sleep for elementary aged students.
  • Make sure students get proper nutrition. Brains need energy from food to work effectively. A balanced diet with protein, carbs, and fats is important for student success.

Believe it or not, the simplest steps make a big difference.

Thanks for your partnership,

All public schools receiving state funding are required to prepare and distribute a SARC (School Accountability Report Card). The purpose of the report card is to provide parents and the community with important information about each school. SARCs are published each year and contain data from the previous school year.

There are several ways to view your school’s SARC:

  • Visit the MVWSD elementary schools’ and middle schools’ webpages on and click on your school’s SARC links, for both English and Spanish.
  • Go to the CDE Find a SARC Web page. This CDE Web page provides actual SARC reports or SARC Web links to the school or district website where the school's SARC is located.
  • If you would like to obtain a printed copy in Spanish or English, please see your child’s school.

Online conversation: School safety

Please join in! The MVWSD community is sharing thoughts in an online conversation about school safety. Please share your input on what are the most important considerations and star others' thoughts as we continue planning for school safety.

Look for a link in your inbox from March 19 to join the ThoughtExchange or visit for more information and to participate.

The thoughts you share in this exchange will inform planning for an April 18 School Safety Town Hall, hosted in conjunction with our partners, such as Mountain View Police Department, El Camino Hospital, El Camino YMCA, CHAC and more.
