Core value of the month: Respect

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Monta Loma Families,

One of our site plan goals is to increase our attendance to rate to 97%.

You can help us meet our goal by making sure your student is at school on time every day unless they are sick. Here are a few tips that may help you.

  • Let your child know that you think attending school daily is important.

  • Give yourself and children enough time to get ready. No TV on school mornings

  • Plan ahead the night before by having kids choose clothes and shoes and pack their backpacks.

  • Set a regular bedtime schedule.

  • Have a back-up plan for traffic or car trouble.

  • Plan your family vacations and appointments during school breaks.

Together we can ensure your student gets the full benefit of education by being at school every day.

In partnership,

Gloria

Please join us for a wonderful event next month as we celebrate the second annual MVPD Women’s Day event. It has been renamed to #SheCan to incorporate and include all who would like to participate, regardless of age.

Much like last year, the goal of this event is to encourage and inspire girls – middle and high school-age specifically – as well as young women to consider the possibility of a career in fields such as public safety and public service and all that these career have to offer.  We are thrilled to announce that the Mountain View Fire Department, the City of Mountain View, the 129th Rescue Wing, and Girls on the Run will be joining us this year.

Here are more of the event details
·         Date: Saturday, March 30th, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
·         Where: MVPD front lot, auditorium and foyer
·         Who: You, and your family!

To learn more about the ‘why’ behind this event, check out our mission statement!

We have a vision.  A vision as police officers, firefighters and government leaders to connect with women and girls as mentors, advocates and sponsors. Out of this vision came the slogan #SeeStrongBeStrong.  We believe that when young women and girls see what’s possible in any career they are encouraged, inspired and supported to strive to find their highest potential. We want all young women and girls to know that they can become anything they set their minds to.  Because they are stronger, smarter and more capable than they think, and WE HAVE THEIR BACK.

We believe that when we engage with young women and girls and tell our stories of perseverance and resilience we are planting seeds of the same kind for them.  We understand that when men stand up with women and girls, we are partners in equality and share the same dream of a better world.

We created this event to inspire, empower and embolden our female youth to see themselves as future leaders in public safety and public service.  #SheCan, sponsored by the Mountain View Police Department, will offer an inside look at the joy and purpose behind the work public servants do in the world.

MVEF had a great turnout for its Winter Gala, and is grateful for the all the guests, donors and sponsors who helped make the evening a success. MVEF raised more than $95,000 including $18,000 for science field trips for every 4th, 5th and 6th grader. There is still time to support these great field trips by donating to MVEF at https://www.mvef.org/donatetogala.

MVEF also funds all the CSMA art and music lessons, Living Classroom, middle school athletics and more. The Gala, as well as donations from parents, community members and corporations, ensure that every child in the District has access to these programs. Learn more at mvef.org.

Let's Talk: Budget

Each year at this time, the District creates its budget for the following year. Learn more about how this process works in this sixth episode in the "Let's Talk" video series.

Click here for the video. Spanish subtitles are available.

The "Let's Talk" video series addresses topics that our school community members have questions about and that are important to them. Look for a new video approximately monthly, and let us know what you think.
