Core value of the month: Courage

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Monta Loma Families,

Welcome back from spring break!

The year just keeps flying by. We are soon approaching the end of the 2018-19 school year. We’re not slowing down yet, though, there’s still a lot going on. Read on for upcoming events.

State testing

Our testing window for state tests in 3rd through 5th grade is now through May 24th. During this time, our 3rd through 5th graders will be taking assessments in Language Arts and Math. 5th graders also take a Science test.

Site Council Elections

Site Council is a vital contributor to the work of our school, providing guidance and approving our school site plan. Now is the time to consider running for Site Council. Interested parents or guardians should contact me at [email protected] to express interest or ask questions. The deadline to let us know you are interested is April 30.

Superintendent’s Coffee at Monta Loma

Dr. Rudolph will be at Monta Loma on May 3rd at 8:45 during the PTA meeting. Stop by to hear district news.

Volunteer opportunities.

Consider lending a hand at our Fun Fitness Day on May 20th. We also need volunteers for our PTA movie night on May 3rd. Contact the office or a PTA rep for information.

Kinder and 5th Grade Promotion Ceremonies

Save the date--Kinder and 5th grade promotion ceremonies will by on Thursday, June 6th. This is in support of families with students being promoted from 8th grade or graduating from high school on the last day of school.

MVLA Speaker Series presents two screenings of LIKE - an IndieFlix Original Film on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 | 6:00pm and 7:30pm | LAHS Eagle Theater |201 Almond Ave., Los Altos, CA. (Flyer here)

LIKE explores the impact of social media on our lives. Technology is a tool. It’s here to stay and social platforms are a place to connect, share and care, but what’s really happening? Are we addicted? How do we stop? Where do we start? What do we need to know?

By understanding the effects of technology and social media on the brain, on our lives, and on our civilization, we can learn how to navigate it more safely together.  Released this past fall, LIKE is a follow-up to Angst: Raising Awareness Around Anxiety, an IndieFlix film about teen anxiety.

Following each screening, CHAC therapists will be available to share resources and to answer individual and small group questions.
