Core value of the month: Hard work

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Monta Loma Families,

Monta Loma thrives on the participation and engagement of our wonderful volunteers. We know from the great work of Project Cornerstone that relationships with caring adults beyond family members enhances a child’s social, emotional, and academic success.

We also know there are so many different ways to support student learning. Whether you have 1 or 100 hours a month to share with us, your contribution is invaluable. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

There is something for every kind of volunteer at Monta Loma. Take a look at the opportunities below and let us know if you can help.

PTA News

Game Night Friday, January 31 5:30pm in MUR

Please join us in the MUR for some good old-fashioned board games with your teachers and other families! Enjoy some pizza, hot dogs, and popcorn while you play.  Come for the games, stay for the community. Hope to see you there! If you are able to help out, we could use a few more hands. Many hands make light work! Sign up here: 2020 Game Night - Volunteer sign up sheet.

Be Our Book Hero!

The Used Book Sale is among the most popular and beloved events that PTA does every year.  We hope to get at least one book into the hands of every child at Monta Loma, but we need someone to coordinate this event.  Please consider leading the effort to collect, organize, and sell books for our kids.  You'll have a lot of help in the form of volunteers. We have a lot of documentation to help and past coordinators to support and assist.  Please consider being our Book Hero this spring! Contact Kara Chambers kdworak@yahoo.com

PTA Board Elections March 27

Please consider serving on the PTA Board for 2020-2021.  We are a friendly group who come from diverse experiences, opinions, and backgrounds who are unified in wanting to support our faculty and staff, enriching the lives and community of our kids and their families.

Please reach out to anyone of us to ask questions as you think about how you might like to become more involved. Some positions take more of a commitment than others, but all positions will give you a voice and an opportunity to impact what we do here at Monta Loma.

Feel free to contact us at montalomapta@gmail.com for more information.

Seeking Volunteers to help Organize our Walk-A-Thon Friday, April 17

PTA is seeking volunteers to help organize Walk-A-Thon, our biggest fundraiser and community event of the year!  In the coming months, we need help seeking donations for food and the raffle, seeking and organizing volunteers for the day of WAT, and assembling a crew to set up the field.  No experience necessary, only the willingness to help! We have documentation of previous WATs so no one needs to reinvent the wheel.

Please reach out to our VP of Fundraising/Events Elizabeth Jones bisajones@gmail.com

InPlay.org

There are many opportunities in Mountain View for students to enrich their learning afterschool or during school breaks. With safety and consistency in mind, our school newsletter and website will advertise only District-, school- and PTA-sponsored events and activities. While we recognize that there are many providers of enrichment activities who use our campus, we may promote only those that follow specific MVWSD parameters for safety and supervision.

The District provides inplay.org as a resource to parents who are seeking additional learning opportunities for their students. To view student enrichment activities, school break and after school classes in our community that are not hosted by MVWSD, please see our partner, https://www.inplay.org/r/mountain-view/. MVWSD has not reviewed all programs/events found there and does not specifically endorse them. Parents should thoroughly research all activities before enrolling their children.
